In the Bodybuilding and Fitness Industry, we always talk generally about supplements that can help us build muscle. However one area that is frequently overlooked is the ingredients that can help us reach our goals.
Since talking more in depth and specifically about supplement ingredients and tailoring your stack to really hone in on your goals via Instagram - I have received a lot of questions asking for more information and guidance on a specific product I use RELIGIOUSLY from Blackstone Labs called Anogenin.
To start things off, I want to introduce you guys to the key ingredient that this product utilises - Laxogenin and how this ingredient works.
Also known as 5 alpha hydroxy Laxogenin or 5a hydroxy Laxogenin, Laxogenin is a plant compound. Laxogenin is fantastic as it exhibits some amazing natural anabolic activation properties, meaning, the phase of metabolism in which simple substances are synthesised into the complex materials of living tissue - which in this case refers to muscle building.
It has been shown that 5α-Hydroxy laxogenin can be used by the athletes as it enhances the strength for 3-5 days and that of muscle increase in 3-4 weeks. The mechanism of the muscle growth and accelerated repair is as a result of enhanced protein synthesis by over 200% as well as increasing nitrogen retention. Further research on the molecule reveals that it can also be used to balance the cortisol response which is the backbone for the recovery and reduction of muscle wasting.
Another key fact about Laxogenin is that it is not a prohormone. Laxogenin does not interfere with your body's endocrine system. In other words, it neither increases nor decreases hormones such as testosterone and estrogen.
The study of Laxogenin has mainly been conducted in the Soviet Union. While its mechanism of effect has yet to be fully explained, given current research, the prevailing view is that it directly increases protein synthesis whilst decreasing protein breakdown.
Laxogenin is also believed to enhance muscle recovery and growth by inhibiting the stress hormone cortisol. Excessive cortisol levels can make it almost impossible to gain muscle, not to mention strength.
Given the fact that Laxogenin is not a prohormone and does not affect your HPTA (hypothalamic-pituitary-testicular axis), it can be used by anyone including women.
Because Laxogenin enhances muscle mass and recovery by increasing protein synthesis and reducing protein breakdown, it is highly beneficial for anyone who wants to improve their physique and make the most out of their training.
Since it won’t affect your hormone levels, there is no real need to restrict Laxogenin use to a short period of time. It is not like testosterone boosters, to which the body eventually adapts by reducing its own natural test levels in response.
We often see people using Laxogenin supplements for 3-4 months at a time and experiencing excellent progress throughout that period, regardless of whether their goal is to build muscle, increase performance or reduce body fat.
The product I use and trust that utilises Laxogenin is ANOGENIN by Blackstone Labs. It is one of the top recommended and rated products that utilise this ingredient. I have been using this product for the last 6 months and have seen some amazing results thus far in my overall physique, recovery and my training performance.
It has an adequate ingredient dose that is effective and will help you achieve your own goals with your training.
As a dietary supplement, take one (1) capsule two (2) times per day with food. Do not take more than two (2) capsules per day. Use in cycles of 8-12 weeks, taking at least 4 weeks off between cycle. This product does not require a PCT.
